Bloating up Google

With the news circulating on the Internet it seems that Google is far more supreme than Microsoft. It seems that Google is beating Microsoft at almost anything. It also went as far as saying that Google is the Microsoft slayer. Well, is that entirely true?

Fortune magazine has just released it's annual list of top performing companies and Microsoft is currently ranked 49th while Google is ranked 241st. I guess that's 192 ranks below Microsoft. Microsoft has a $44,282 million in revenues and a profit of $12,599 this fiscal year. While Google has a revenue of $10,604 million and a profit of $3,077 million. Just do the math.

Other software companies ranked way behind Microsoft (Oracle ranked No. 167; Symantec ranked No. 515; CA ranked No. 547; Electronic Arts ranked No. 658 and Adobe Systems ranked No. 727). This clearly shows how far more superior Microsoft is compared to Google (company wise).

So why is it that people perceive that Google is much more supreme than Microsoft? It's because of the image of Microsoft as being an Evil company and they are in search of a company that will beat the big bad wolf. So every defeat of Microsoft from the hands of Google is very much cherished by these Microsoft-Haters. Which in turn makes Google seems to look bigger that Microsoft. Let's accept the fact that Google is just an advertising company and aligning itself side-by-side with Microsoft isn't really quite a comparison.

Most probably people are comparing Microsoft and Google in the advertising market. One thing to note why Microsoft is among the top in that list is because Microsoft is involved in several businesses (gaming, music, OS and etc). Google, on the otherhand, is solely focused in search and advertising and beats Microsoft and Yahoo hands down. Laughing

Try and take a look at the growth rate of these two companies the past four quarters. My guess is that Google has been growing faster the MS. If my guess is right, then that's the only reason that investors need to laud Google over MS.
