As the launch of Vista last January 30th Apple has also doubled its effort on attacking Vista. Mac has just unleashed a full-scale attack on Windows Vista on its 170 Mac retail stores.
Why is Apple doing this? Is this to prevent their users to switch to Vista? I guess not. As you might have already known Mac users can never switch, Macintosh for them is a religion. Maybe what they're trying to do is entice its iPod buyers into not upgrading to Vista. So the question arises, should I not upgrade to Vista and yet upgrade to a Mac?
Let's dissect the pro's and con's:
- Windows con: Security, Virus
- as Mac always tells other people, with windows software your never really safe. There's a lot of viruses and other vulnerabilities the affect only Windows machine. Partly its true. Yes there are a lot of viruses out there specifically created for Windows machines, but, if you can only avail a decent Virus Scanner and you always keep your Windows Up-to-date then you wouldn't have much of a problem. With the response time of Microsoft guys in patching vulnerabilities are quite fast. And with all of the attacks happening to Windows then we can safely say that these guys are quite experienced on handling these scenarios. So, you might be asking why Mac hasn't suffered these kind of attacks? Are Macs really that secured? Well, simple. Cause they just represent less that 10% of the PC users. If I'm a hacker, then why create a virus which only infects a small amount of the population? And you can also say that Mac is quite inexperienced with handling this kind of situations. Which makes them more vulnerable. - Windows Vista con: Upgrading cost
- Mac emphasizes that upgrading to Vista is very difficult and expensive. Absolutely not true! Actually upgrading to Vista is pretty much cheaper that upgrading to Mac OSx. Imagine throwing away all of your software and purchase another batch of softwares for Mac. And not including the time spent of your learning these new software. Plus a brand new Mac unit which is pretty expensive.
Lets face the fact that Mac is that desperate. They invented the PC and yet they only share a small percentage of its users. They always claim that Microsoft or rather Bill Gates is a Monopolist. Well, lets see, when I'm buying a PC Bill Gates only owns the OS in which you can freely choose your own hardware periphirals. What about Steve Jobs' Mac? Not only that they own their OS they also own their machine! So all of your money directly goes to Steve Jobs! No who's the Monopolist!
